I read all the reviews and I tried it out myself. I used it like I normally would, with no changes. Despite some comments, they hold up find under water conditions (the box says don't use hot water). They were originally made, after all, to hold up to kitchen plant waste, which is wet. They tear very easily if you "throw" in something sharp, and they won't expand like plastic. In order to change over from plastic to something that won't hurt the environment, I'm find with those two differences. It gets my garbage from the kitchen to the outside can. That's really all I need. Because it doesn't expand, I recommend consideration of size. A 13 gallon bag will fit a 13 gallon container, but no extra. If you have a tall kitchen garbage can- go for a 20 gallon bag size. I've used the 3 gallon in the bathroom for over a year with absolutely no difference from plastic. The boxes take up less space on the shelf than plastic, but they only last a year because they will start to decompose- so you buy only a years' worth at a time. They smell like sugar! It's time we started making responsible choices. I don't want to leave the kids with a world full of toxic plastic when I could have changed my habits.... NOW, I can.
