Good informationThis book is lovely as historical document since writer lived through WWII and that is when she introduced this approach to the world as well as to her stubborn colleagues. And is very useful per user who needs to be introduced to the idea of making dietary changes when diagnosed with serious illness.Otherwise it wasn't very useful for someone like myself who was hoping to find more treatment recepes alike or specific ideas.the work is only a short pamphlet, not a book. however, it's my own fault for not noticing the number of pages. otherwise, it arrived on time and in good shape.Raw veggies are good for your health, but Nolfi's book doesn't get into the details. It's a good starter book on your cancer shelf, however.Excellent bookThe original work of Nolfi, that is the previous editions of this work, is truly invaluable. THIS edition though is dangerous as it has been adulterated to suit the ideology of the publishers. I have never seen such an extreme adulteration of a previously published work. Hardcore examples: "Raw whole milk is our best source of calcium" (original work, page 41) has been turned to "Raw vegetables are our best source of calcium" (this adulterate edition, page 38). "Vitamin D is to be found in milk and eggs. In vegetable food vitamin D exists only in certain fungi, e.g. mushrooms and cantharellus" (original work, page 46) has been turned to "Our best Vitamin D source is sunshine. Sunflower seeds are the best vegetable source" (this adulterate edition, page 42). All references to the raw, whole milk that Nolfi and her patients consumed daily (in rather large quantities, 1/2 to 1 quart), has been erased. All references and a whole chapter on garlic that Nolfi recommended strongly and consumed daily has been erased. The publishers were also annoyed by grains, parsley, cress, spinach and have also erased all references to them! So the reader is not allowed to learn about the experience of Nolfi with raw food but is led to believe what the publishers believe to be a therapeutic diet and way of living. The adulterations are much more and know no limit! Whatever doesn't suit the publishers' ideology is erased or "corrected". So beware of this edition and search for older ones that contain the original text and the true experience of Nolfi.I found this book years ago when first expanding my knowledge of healthy eating, fasting and raw foods. I like it particularly BECAUSE the book is small, easy to read quickly, and contains the author's personal story of her battle with breast cancer. She was a practicing doctor at the time, and chose to alter her diet and lifestyle instead of pursue the traditional treatments that she and many of her colleagues had seen fail so miserably. There is something powerful about this testimony, and her willingness to be her own experimental test subject, even when the medical powers railed against her success. I found this book helpful and motivational.I have an undated edition of this booklet and don't know if it has since been updated. It describes events that happened in the 1940s. I don't agree with everything in it. She recommends long hours of sun bathing, four to five hours per day, a dangerous idea in these days of ozone depletion and melanoma. Maybe it was not as harmful in Denmark, where she practiced, or early and late in the day. She claims that "our patients are fortified by their diet against the more intense rays of the sun." How many dermatologists would agree? Her use of milk, potatoes, and dried grains, even in their raw state, is questionable in cancer. The casein in cows' milk is contra-indicated, according to some modern sources, because it promotes rapid cell growth. Cows' milk is intended for calves, not for human beings. She praises garlic, calling it a miracle food, which it is not. The Natural Hygiene school calls it a toxic irritant, and it is that for me. She admits that garlic kills or inhibits "practically all bacteria" and thinks that is a good thing. Her whole chapter about garlic is misinformation. And there is more misinformation about fasting and the nature of colds. She warns against fasting, claiming that the body cannot detoxify itself "without the aid of vitamins and mineral salts." Colds are not to be allowed to run their courses; instead they are to be stopped by garlic. She makes some interesting observations about cancer and her regimen has much to recommend it, but this small booklet is mostly argument and testimonial. She claims that she had a large malignant tumor that diminished in size and was "converted into the most benign form in existence." If true, she must have been doing something right, and this booklet does tell you what she did and did not do. She claims her tumor gradually diminished on a 100% raw diet, then began to grow again when she re-introduced some cooked foods. 100% raw was essential to her program. I have been unable to follow up on her to determine how long she lived after her alleged remission. But considering the many mistakes she made, her results, if true, testify to the power of the raw food diet. All good!!A very good book!
