DESCRIPTION
Finding Food tells us the ways in which animals gather their sustenance. Beginning in the South American rainforest where the food is abundant, does not necessarily make it easy to find. Some plants are poisonous. Other plants use food (or nectar) as a bribe to get their pollen transported, and several species of hummingbird have developed exclusive relationships with certain of them. Fruit is also on offer, again as a means of reproduction. The movie shows what the animals and birds eat and what they have to do to find it, and they learn what to use for an antidote for food that is toxic to them.

This is the best introduction to symbiosis I've ever found in my 30+ years of teaching high school biology. It never fails to fascinate my students since it has marvelous footage of many types of mutualism and parasitism on land and in the sea. I only regret that it is not available on DVD for American consumers. Apparently it is on Blu-Ray only for European DVD players. I have worn out my first VHS tape and am now buying a replacement. If you teach about ecological relationships, make this part of your audio-visual collection!
